Case Study

Problem

A small, well-established insurance company in Wiltshire recently resolved to grow and brought in a business consultant to assist in strategic planning. The consultant felt that, as much of their work is done using Microsoft Excel, the staff would benefit from training. Having worked with us before, the consultant came direct to Blue Click.

Investigation

Research was done by Blue Click to find out more about the company, their work and their staff. As requested, the company sent a list of topics to be covered and provided some indication of the current skills of the staff to be trained.

A course outline based on these topics, together with timings, was sent to the company with a quotation for two half days to cover all topics.

The company were in favour of the outline and decided to book training for the whole day.

Solution

The company set up their meeting room with computers and projector.

The training took place – four members of staff attended, with some basic skills (none of them had attended a formal training course before and needed to learn the basics) – a carefully designed Excel session building up from essential fundamental topics to formulas and charts.

The staff enjoyed the course and said they had all found it helpful to learn things they had not known about or properly understood even though they had been using Excel for years. It gave them all confidence to go back and try out what they had learned and explore further.
